Mrs. Dessie Uzzell Loftin, 75, 603 Hugh St., Goldsboro, N.C., passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Guiding Star Holy Church, 1114 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the Rev. Howard Eaves Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery on Martin Luther King Expressway.
You may sign the register book Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C.
The family and friends will meet at 501 S. Pineview Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., where they will also meet Monday at 12 noon in preparation for the procession to the church.
Mrs. Loftin is survived by her husband, Mr. Henry Loftin of the home; six children, Gloria Jean Thompson and Horace (Patricia) Thompson both of Goldsboro, Jackie Patrick of Arizona, Ben (Nellie) Uzzell of Richmond, Va., Michael (Cindy) Isler of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Harold (Erica) Uzzell of Tallahasse, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Katie Rochester of Philadelphia, Pa., Doris (Charles) Coley, Carolyn Saunders and Linda (Larry) Brown all of Goldsboro, N.C., Mary Ann (Hubert) Green and Debra (Harold) Smith both of Maryland; five brothers, Elbert Uzzell Jr., Ray Uzzell and Harry Uzzell all of Philadelphia, Pa., George Uzzell of Goldsboro, N.C., and Bobby Uzzell of California; four very close friends, Willie and Viola Gregory, Solomon Troy and J. D. Newsome; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
