JAMES L. "JAY" TAYLOR

Died Aug. 22, 2010

MOUNT OLIVE -- James Leonard "Jay" Taylor, 52, formerly of Goldsboro, died Sunday, Aug. 22, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Jay is survived by his cousins, Shelia Gambill and husband, Richard of Dudley, Gwen Vaughn of Goldsboro, Donna Whitfield and husband, Mickey, of Mount Olive and Vickie Wallace and husband, Butch, of Goldsboro. He is also survived by his aunts, Peggy Chalk or "little ma" of Mount Olive and Connie Yandell or "ma" of Texas; two half-sisters, Judy Allison and Cathy Locke of Texas; a half-brother, Gary Yandell of Texas; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Corrine D. Taylor of Goldsboro; an aunt, Betty Smith of Mount Olive; and his special K-9 friend, "C.B."

Jay was a member of Rooty Branch Original Free Will Baptist Church of Mount Olive and an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved to ride, shoe and take care of horses part-time on the side.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at 7 p.m., at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Mickey and Joshua Whitfield officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be held immediately following the memorial service, and at other times at the home of Mickey and Donna Whitfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rooty Branch Church, c/o Lettie Barwick, 205 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365, or the Wayne County Humane Society on Clingman Street in Goldsboro.
