PIKEVILLE -- Ruby Hooks Matthews Thornton, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, George C. Thornton; daughter, Mawan Bunn (Joel) of Goldsboro; sons, LaVon Matthews (Pam) of Goldsboro, Stan Matthews (Barbara) of Pikeville and Tony Matthews of Greenville, S.C.; stepdaughters, Kathy Trogdon of Pikeville and Ann Cabaniss of Illinois; stepsons, Steve Thornton of Colorado and Danny Frank of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Blake, Casey, Abby and Ava Bunn, Timmy, Brad, Chad, Todd, Derek, Scottie and Jason Matthews; 13 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Danny Hooks of Mount Olive, Bryan Hooks of Lucama and Wiley Hooks of Columbia, S.C.; and very special friend since childhood, Margaret Matthews.
The family will be at the church Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
