MOUNT OLIVE -- Mrs. Maggie Millard Witherington, 86, longtime Mount Olive resident, on Sunday passed from this life unto her heavenly home while at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with visitation immediately following. Burial will be Thursday, July 29, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, with the Rev. James Spencer and the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.

Mrs. Witherington was retired from Mt. Olive Pickle Co. with 45 years of faithful service.

She had worshipped for many years at Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay W. Lindsay of Mount Olive, Marilyn W. and Joseph Summerlin of Mount Olive and Amanda W. and Rodney Odom of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a special friend and caregiver, Pam Hamm of Mount Olive; and a former son-in-law and long-time family friend, Eddie Lindsay of Asheboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. "Bill" Witherington; her parents, Hezekiah and Laura Ellen Bowden Millard; two sisters, Rachel Lee and Gracie Millard; and two brothers, the Rev. Johnny Millard and David Millard.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church, c/o J. Spencer, 728 Stanley Chapel Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Wayne Memorial Hospital's sixth-floor nursing staff for its excellent care and supportive manner extended to its loved one during her last few weeks of illness.
