JAMES L. NEWCOMB

PIKEVILLE -- James L. Newcomb, 68, passed away Thursday at home.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by his funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
James was born in Wayne County April 6, 1942, to the late Ruffy Newcomb and Gladys W. Newcomb.
He retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture after working many years at the Cherry Farm in Goldsboro.
James is survived by his wife, Elsie Walston Newcomb; his daughters, Rhonda Honeycutt and husband, Richard, of Fremont, Michelle Mooring and husband, Earl, of Grantham and Tonya Smith and husband, Bobby, of Grantham; his sons, Matt Newcomb, Lee Newcomb and Daniel Newcomb; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Harold; and his sisters, Bertha, Shirley and Mary Alice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey, Ruffy Jr. and Randolph.
