HILDA GIBBS

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Hilda Gibbs, 84, passed away Thursday.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Rabon, the Rev. Phyllis Vail and the Rev. Phillip Garrett officiating. Interment will be at Seven Springs Cemetery.
Miss Gibbs was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Wayne County to the late Walter Raleigh Gibbs and Mary Lou Quinn Gibbs.
She graduated from Meredith College and received a master's degree from Virginia Common-wealth University.
Her willingness to help others led to a distinguished career as a social worker at Caswell Center.
Miss Gibbs was a lifelong member of Seven Springs Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.
Always active in her community, she was a member of Seven Springs Historical Society and formerly served on the Seven Springs town board.
Miss Gibbs is survived by a sister, Eleanor Gibbs of Seven Springs; sister-in-law, Carolyn Gibbs of Seven Springs; niece, Mary Wallace Gibbs Vickory and husband, Denny, of Florida; great-niece, Carmen Vickory of Florida; great-nephew, Hill Vickory of Florida.
In addition to her parents, Miss Gibbs was preceded in death by a brother, Donald S. Gibbs.
Friends will be received at the Gibbs home, 203 E. Spring St. in Seven Springs.
