CARNIECE H. DEVAUGHN

In profound sorrow, the staff at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home & Cremation Inc. joins in with the DeVaughn family to announce the passing of Carniece H. DeVaughn, 605 Oleander Ave. Ms. DeVaughn quietly entered into eternal rest Friday at Mount Olive Care and Rehab-ilitation Center in Mount Olive.
A service celebrating the prolific life and legacy of Ms. DeVaughn will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Deeper Life Church Ministries, 900 11th St. in Goldsboro. Apostle Norbert Simmons will provide heavy laden hearts with words of inspiration. Following the formal services in the sanctuary, the E.M. Matthews classic angelic white fleet will escort Ms. DeVaughn's delicate temple, along with her precious family, to Old Mill Cemetery for committal and interment proceedings. It is in this earthly place where those who loved her may visit and pay respects, but it is in that great and beautiful place called paradise that she will be singing and rejoicing, telling her master how she made it over.
Ms. Carniece DeVaughn was born May 1, 1933, to the late Robert Herring Sr. and Martha Gardner.
Ms. DeVaughn was reared in Wayne County, where she was educated in the Wayne County public school system.
After her job at J.P. Taylor relocated to Wilson, she went back to school and obtained her GED and CNA certification. She worked at Britthaven and Home, Health and Hospice, from which she later retired. She in fact enjoyed her work.
She joined Deeper Life Church Ministries, where she attended faithfully until her health began to decline.
Ms. DeVaughn leaves to cherish her loving memories four sons, James Herring of Durham and David (Jane) DeVaughn, Jerry (Gwendolyn) DeVaughn and Willie Melvin all of Goldsboro; two daughters, Deardra DeVaughn and Connie (John) Oliver both of Goldsboro; two sisters, Ethel Herring and Martha Herring of Goldsboro; a brother, Robert Herring of Goldsboro; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Willie Mae DeVaughn and Martha McElroy.
Visitation for Ms. DeVaughn will be held tonight from 2 to 8 at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc.
