BOBBY R. BRASWELL

KINSTON -- Bobby Ray Braswell, 78, passed away Monday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be held tonight at 6 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 712 Airport Road in Kinston, with pastor Jon Hoey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Born in Johnston County July 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Addie Creech Braswell.

Mr. Braswell was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church and will be remembered as a very special "PaPa." He truly loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy Smith Braswell of the home; daughters, Carla Lancaster and husband, Dr. Harold Lancaster, of Kinston and Debbie Chestnutt and husband, Dwight Chestnutt, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Dee Dee Cassady and husband, Will Cassady, Scott Chestnutt and fiancee´, Jodi Hauck, Sally Lancaster and James Lancaster; and great-grandchildren, Aaron Crocker and Brandon Crocker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Ray Braswell.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.

Arrangements are by Howard-Carter Funeral Home of Kinston.
