In profound sorrow the president and staff of E.M.Matthews announces the passing of Edward W. Vaughn Sr., 105 Neal St., who quietly entered into eternal rest Tuesday.

A service of remberance will be conducted by the graveside following the visitation Saturday at 3 p.m. in Old Mill Cemetery, with minister Thurman McCallum providing words of comfort. Following the committal rites, the humble servants of E. M. Matthews Funeral Home will gracefully inter Mr. Vaughn's temple of clay into his temporary resting place until the master's return. Meanwhile, his spritual being will be rejoicing with the 24 elders about how he made it over.

Edward Wiley Vaughn Sr. was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Goldsboro to the late Howard and Elizabeth McQuetta Vaughn.

Known to everyone as "Pic," he attended Goldsboro City Schools until relocating to Newport News, Va, where he was an employee at the shipyard for many years.

In early 2000 he returned back to Goldsboro after spending several years in Virginia and was here until his death.

He was married to Annie P. Vaughn in 1953 and from that union were born five sons.

He leaves to cherish memories his wife, Annie P. Vaughn, four sons, Edward Vaughn Jr., Thomas (Myrtle) Vaughn, Larry (Josa) Vaughn and William (Sadie) Vaughn all of Goldsboro; a brother, Howard (Iyetta) Vaughn of Hampton, Va.; and a stepdaughter, Margaret Atkinson of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his first son, Lawrence "Tobargan" Vaughn of Goldsboro, and a stepdaughter, Annie (William)"Moochie" Woodard of Goldsboro.

A viewing will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at E.M.Matthews Funeral Home & Cremation Inc., 401 N. William St. in Goldsboro.

The family will receive family and friends at 235 Johnson Lane in Goldsboro to commerate and remember the life and legacy of Mr. Vaughn.

Every detail, need and concern of the precious Vaughn family is being delicately handled with the utmost care by the president and staff of E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations.
