BESSIE S.F. PASCHALL

Bessie Cora Seawell Faucette Paschall, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Bessie was born in Cumberland County Aug. 14, 1916, to the late Matthew and Julia Jackson Seawell and was the adopted daughter of Jim and Maggie Williams Faucette. She was married to the late John Ancel Paschall. Bessie had worked as an insurance agent for Combined Insurance Company after her children were all grown and married. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Bessie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Bessie will also be remembered as the dedicated coach of her daughters, the singing Paschall Sisters.

She was an avid reader all her life.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Rose and the Rev. Kelley Buffaloe officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Bessie is survived by her daughters, Annette P. Caulk of Goldsboro, Jyme P. Hare of Smithfield, Betty P. Grantham and husband, Jerry of Grantham, Gayle P. Shirley of Smithfield and Ellen P. Alberti of Atlanta, Ga., and a special grandson whom she raised, David J. Sasser Jr. and wife, Twilla of Keizer, Oregon. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
