KATRINA WIGGINS CARON

Katrina Wiggins Caron, 59, of Cary, and formerly of Wayne County, passed away unexpectedly at her residence Saturday.

A native of Wayne County, she graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1969 and Wake Memorial Hospital School of Radiology in 1971 and earned her certification from Jackson State Community College in Tennessee for Medical Sonography in 1989. She was employed in several medical facilities in Wake County, including Rex Hospital of Raleigh and Durham Regional Hospital, and medical facilities in Jackson, Tenn.

During her time of employment in North Carolina she was instrumental in the establishment of an Ultrasound Continuing Education Society where she served as co-chairman on the advisory committee. She was employed for the last nine years with Dillard's in Cary, where she received the Outstanding Achievement Award.

A Requiem Mass to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson St., Goldsboro. The Rev. Thomas Norris, O.S.F.S., will preside. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her son, John Cabot Caron of Cary; her mother, Marguerite T. Wiggins of Goldsboro; and five sisters, Marguerite (Rita) Kearney of Dudley, Tiffany W. Warren and husband Alton of Gainesville, Fla., Tracy W. Seaton and husband Tony of Flowery Branch, Ga., Josephine W. Bradshaw of Chesterfield, Va., Dr. Sandy Wiggins of Goldsboro; special friend, Jerry Besco of Cary and beloved dog, Gidget; 15 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and great-nephews and 10 great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard E. Caron; her father, Cabot Gordon Wiggins of Dudley; sisters, Jane W. Coombs Pitchford of Concord and Patricia Lynn Wiggins (infant); brother-in-laws, William (Bill) Kearney of Dudley, Jimmy Coombs of Goldsboro and Madison Pitchford of Concord; and special aunts, Louise Thompson of Goldsboro and Virginia Howell of Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
