Herbert Grimes Edwards, 82, slipped away at Wayne Memorial Hospital on New Year's Day. He was the son of the late Frank and Lula Dunn Edwards.
Services will be held at noon on Thursday at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 203 S. George St., Goldsboro, with the Rev. Dr. Dwight B. Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends at a viewing prior to the start of services, beginning at 11 a.m., and at all other times at the home.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Theresa Mozingo Edwards; two children Brenda Edwards Roberts (Victor, Sr.) and Herbert Novarro Edwards (Anne); four grandchildren and three great-grand-children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Building Fund.
