REV. WALTER REYNOLDS

FARMVILLE -- The Rev. Walter Reynolds, 83, 4483 Friendship Church Road, died Tuesday at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Original Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harold Jones and the Rev. Jack Weathersby officiating. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville.
Rev. Reynolds was born Oct. 25, 1926, in Columbia, N.C.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army from Feb. 21, 1945, to Dec. 21, 1946.
He was ordained to the gospel ministry as an original free will baptist minister July 30, 1949, in the Albemarle Conference.
He graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn., in May 1951. Rev. Reynolds pastored churches in Tennessee and in North Carolina and served in several capabilities in the North Carolina State Convention of Original Free Will Baptists. He retired Oct. 28, 2001, from the pastorate.
He married Evelyn L. Furlough July 8, 1945, who preceded him in death Oct. 5, 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith Gayle Reeves and husband, Richard of Raleigh; two sons, Samuel Thomas Reynolds of Wake Forest and Charles Stephen Reynolds of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Reynolds and wife, Mary Edith, of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Adam Reeves and wife, Amy, Kacey Reynolds, Christopher Reeves and wife, Cydne, Carey Reynolds, Amanda Reeves and Will Reynolds; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Lynn Reeves.
The family will receive friends at Farmville Funeral Home Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
