Richard Krentz went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Friday.

A service to remember Dick will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. James H. Harry officiating.

"Daddy Dick," as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, was born in Mount Clemmons, Mich., the youngest of four. He graduated from Indiana University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Dick served his country honorably for 3 years in the United States Army working in intelligence. Upon his discharge, he worked in various management positions with Eastman Kodak and Vanity Fair, Inc., and eventually moved to Goldsboro in 1974 as Plant Manager of Excel Linde Corporation. He retired from Excel Linde in 1988 as Vice President of Manufacturing.

After retiring, he pursued his life-long passion and operated a residential construction business in Wayne County, building over 35 homes in the area. During his industrial career, Krentz served as President of the Goldsboro Chamber of Commerce, President of Goldsboro Country Club, and President of the Industrial Committee. He was also an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he served as Chairperson of the Finance and as a Trustee. He shared his love of music by singing in the St. Paul choir for over 32 years. Most recently he was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Riley Krentz; his children, Richard Walter Krentz Jr. and wife, Kim, of Goldsboro and Sandra Krentz Wilkins and husband, Charles, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Margaret Lee Wilkins, Charles Riley Wilkins, Anna Ward Wilkins, Matthew Wilkins, Richard Starling Krentz and Daniel Isaac Krentz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arno and his sister, Agnes.

The family received friends Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his home, 604 Dellwood Place, Goldsboro.
