SUE CARROLL JANNING

JACKSONVILLE -- Sue Carroll Janning, 65, passed away peacefully at home with her family and friends on Nov. 20, 2009. She is in heaven with her Lord and Savior.

A private family burial service will be held on Monday morning at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jack-sonville. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jason Brinker and the Rev. Charles McKinney. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

She was a Christian woman, serving her Lord for many years at Blue Creek Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She loved and cherished her many church friends and especially liked organizing Sunday school group outings.

She was born in Wilming-ton to the late Harmon Hall Hudson and Nellie Bland Hudson. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Bill Janning. In addition, she is survived by a son, Joey Janning and wife, Amy, of Goldsboro; and daughter, Rebecca Morton, and husband, Bruce, of Greenville; and five grandchildren, Alayna Janning, Will Jan-ning, Wyatt Janning, Grace Morton and Grant Morton.

Sue was a member of many organizations, including the Extension and Community Associates (ECA), Harmony Home-makers Club, for more than 43 years. In addition, she was a member of United Daughters of the Confed-eracy, Blockade Runner Chapter, and the Stamp Defiance Chapter, Daught-ers of the Revolution (DAR).

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Walker, Dr. Gabriel Lopez, Dr. Ruben Reyes and the wonderful staff on 3 West at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. In addition, the compassionate folks at Continuum Homecare and Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, Sue wished that donations be made to the Family Picnic Pavilion Fund, First Baptist Church, 1985 Gum Branch Road, Jacksonville, N.C. 28540.
