NORWOOD FORTE

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

Norwood Forte, 70, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Chicken" of 4611 N. US 117 Hwy., Pikeville, departed this life on Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
His life and service will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at White Oak Grove Original Freewill Baptist Church, with Elder George E. Wiggins officiating.
Norwood was born in Wayne County to the Late Jefferson Forte and Beatrice Hagans Forte. His beloved sister, Sallye Beatrice Forte, also preceded him in death.
His mortal frame will be laid to rest in the Wayne Memorial Park.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his son, Morris "Ted" Reid of Raleigh; three daughters, Lucy Ghalston of Goldsboro, Herlene Jones of Fremont and Francine Jones of Raleigh; one granddaughter, Michelle Reid of Greensboro; two grandsons, Danny Wells of Pikeville, and Brian Reid of Mayfield, Ky.; one aunt, Lillian Brown of Goldsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 until 8 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where they will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
