Died Oct. 28, 2009
ALBERTSON -- Surrounded by her family, Martha Elizabeth Grady was called to her heavenly home Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 at Pink Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
Elizabeth was born in 1913 and spent all of her 96 years of life in Albertson as a homemaker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long-time active member of Harper-Southerland Presbyterian Church, where she served in various capacities, especially her favorite group, the Women of the Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Stroud; granddaughter, Vickie Robinson and husband, Michael Robinson; grandson, Tommy Stroud and wife, Lisa Stroud; grandson, Charles Grady Casteen; and granddaughter Regina Helton. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Kendra, Kristin and Ethan Stroud, Ansley Elizabeth Robinson, Gage, Trey and Tessa Casteen and Jay Helton; beloved brother, Bruce Southerland and wife, Christine; several special nieces and nephews; and an extra-special nephew, Raymond Turner Jr., whom she loved like a son.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jamie and Pattie Southerland; husband, Paul Allen Grady; a son, William Allen Grady; son-in-law, Thomas L. Stroud; a sister, Viola Turner; and a brother, J.T. Southerland.
Visitation will follow the funeral service. Family and friends will be received at other times at the home of Brenda Stroud.
Special appreciation goes to the many caregivers who lovingly took care of Elizabeth over the last 15 years.
