DEXTER TAYLOR

George Dexter Taylor, 75, passed away on Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held today at 6 p.m. at Oakland Community Church, with the Rev. Phil Bowden officiating. Entomb-ment will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Dexter was born in Johnston County on June 17, 1934, to the late George Eli Taylor and Doris Godwin Taylor. He had retired from B.R. Kornegay Land Surveying and Engineering, with 32 years of service as a draftsman. Dexter was an avid fisherman and a member of Oakland Community Church. He served his country in the United States Navy.
Dexter is survived by his wife, Joyce Pender Taylor; sons, Tim Taylor and wife, Tracy, of Selma, Jerry Dawson and wife, Wanda, of Pikeville and Stan Dawson and wife, Nancy, of Rosewood; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Taylor, and his sister, Joyce T. Holland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakland Community Church, 921 Oakland Church Road, Princeton, N.C. 27569 or to the American Cancer Society, 930B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall at Oakland Community Church and other times at his home, 252 Friendly Drive, Goldsboro.
