Dorothy Lancaster Barnes, 78, went to be with her Savior -- no more pain -- Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Rex Evans and her son-in-law, the Rev. Jeff Jones, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
She was born in Wayne County Aug. 16, 1930, to the late Tom Lancaster and Jessie Newsome Lancaster.
Mrs. Barnes was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Barnes; daughters, Jessica Roach and husband, Rocky, of Carrollton, Va., Connie McKinney and husband, David, of Roanoke, Va., and Rose Jones and husband, the Rev. Jeff Jones, of Fuquay-Varina; her sister, Laura Ellen Griffith of LaGrange; her brother, Ed Lancaster of La Grange; and her grandchildren, Hannah and Daniel Roach, Joshua and Anna McKinney and Stacie and Leslie Jones.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by a sister, Marie L. Vinson, and a brother, Tommie Lancaster Jr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and will be at the residence at other times.
