ATHENIA I. MOSES
Oct. 5, 1915-June 17, 2009
Athenia I. Moses, daughter of the late David Isler and Winnie M. Isler, was called from her earthly labor to receive eternal reward Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday at noon at Greenleaf Christian Church, with the Rev. William Barber II officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mill Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 5, 1915.
She was married to the late James N. Moses, and to this union three children were born.
At an early age, she worked at JP Taylor Tobacco Factory, where she retired after 32 years of service. Mother Moses enhanced her education in the health care field and began working for 3HC and WAGES.
At an early age, Mother Moses became a member of Greenleaf Christian Church. She was a faithful and dedicated member. She was ordained a deaconess of the church March 29, 1998.
Mother Moses leaves to carry on her legacy two children, Van A. Moses Sr. (Shirley) and Patricia A Moses both of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves four sisters; Janie Isler, Bessie I. Scott, Lillie I. King and Ella I. Horne (Jasper); and one brother, David Isler Jr. (Evangeline), all of Goldsboro.
Her brother, Adis Earl Isler; daughter, Winnie Mae Moses; and grandson, Milton Eugene Moses, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, 900 S. George St.
