FREMONT -- Steven Earl Gwaltney, 18, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro , with funeral services beginning in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m., with the Rev. Christian Powell, the Rev. Fred Carraway and the Rev. Bradley Dixon officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eureka Cemetery.
The family, at other times, will be at the home of Hazel S. Davis, 2356 Davis Mill Road, Fremont.
Steven was born in Wayne County Oct. 25, 1990, to Todd and Beth Davis Gwaltney of Fremont.
Steven was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, but was working diligently with his family on a mission church, Freedom Free Will Baptist Church, in Roanoke Rapids.
He will be remembered as the family comedian and as a musician who enjoyed playing the guitar. Steven had an outgoing personality, and loved working and playing with kids. He knew no stranger and deeply loved his family.
In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by his brother, Daniel Gwaltney of the home; his maternal grandmother, Hazel Sauls Davis of Eureka; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher A. Ream on Dec. 23, 2008; his maternal grandfather, Nathan Rose Davis; and his paternal grandparents, Knotty and Bobbie Gwaltney.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the mission church, Freedom Free Will Baptist Church, P. O. Box 25, Roanoke Rapids, NC, 27870.
