MOUNT OLIVE -- Mark Anthony Herring, 49, died early Sunday morning at his residence.

Services will be held by the graveside Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Doug Dexter officiating.

He was an Eagle Scout and had enjoyed a long tenure of service with Boy Scout Troop 200 in Mount Olive as assistant scoutmaster. He was employed with Wal-Mart of Mount Olive.

Mark is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Strickland Herring of the home; a sister, Vickie H. Howell and husband, Phil, of Mount Olive; two brothers, Eddie Herring and wife, Naomi, of Turkey and Rick Herring and wife, Lynn, of Calypso; and several nieces and nephews.

His father, Victor A. Herring, preceded him in death.

Friends and relatives are being received at the residence at 118 E. Pollock St. in Mount Olive.

In lieu of flowers, gifts to honor Mark's memory may be made to Boy Scout Troop 200, c/o Tom Ferrell, P.O. Box 327, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

Arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Service of Mount Olive.
