BETHENA F. KENNEDY

April 22, 1924-April 16, 2009

Bethena Futrell Kennedy, 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father today at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Bethena was born in Wayne County on April 22, 1924, to the late Arthur Futrell and Susie Tilton Futrell. She was a home-maker and a blessing to those whose lives she touched. Bethena was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church. Her life was a testimony to her powerful faith in God.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Todd Wiggins and the Rev. Bobby Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Bethena is survived by her husband, F. Russell Kennedy; her daughter, Betsy Herring of Goldsboro; her sons, Scott F. Herring and Mark L. Herring; great-grandson, Tyler F. Herring and his mother, Andrea S. Herring; a son, Dean F. Kennedy and his wife, Brenda, and their daughter, Jamie K. Wilson and husband, Ashley; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Grace; and her sister, Opal Mauldin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Darwin Herrin, and her brothers, Kenneth and Rodney Futrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
