Elder Glenwood Earl Burden Sr., 62, of 1001 N. Center St., entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning at his residence.
His life and service to his Lord and mankind will be celebrated Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bear Creek Association Headquarters with the Rev. Leslie Capers officiating. Elder Burden will be eulogized by his son and namesake Minister Glenwood Earl Burden Jr.
Elder Burden's remains will be placed in an authentic 1892 Cunningham horse-drawn hearse for his journey to the Elmwood Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 38 years, Margaret Wilson Burden; two children, Valerie Bartlett and husband, Eric, of St. Louis, Mo., and Glenwood Earl Burden Jr. and wife, Telicia, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Shawnte', Eric, Derrick, Ra'Sheila, Kierra and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Christal and Chris; his mother, Marie Burden; three sisters, H. Diane Thornton and husband, William, of Durham, Pamela Adams of Goldsboro, P. Gail Burden of Raleigh; two brothers, Anthony Burden of Durham and Ralph Burden Jr. of Goldsboro; three aunts, Rosa Kornegay and Helen Simmons, both of Goldsboro, and Marie Simmons of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one uncle, Hoover Braswell of Goldsboro; and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 until 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends at the residence, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.
