LUCILLE Z. MCCOY

Lucille "Lou" Zimney McCoy, 83, of 211 Lib Drive, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Born in Andover, S.D., she was the daughter of the late Peter John and Mildred Gooding Zimney, wife of the late Vernon Edgar McCoy and mother of the late Terry Lynn McCoy. A member of Providence United Methodist Church, she was a veteran of the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class. She was a former Pack 10 Cub Scout Leader for 14 years, a former Red Cross Volunteer and was a former assistant teacher of nursing at Wayne Community College. She was a former employee of the former Oak Manor Nursing Home, now Britthaven, and worked for surgeon Dr. Patrick Ballen in Greensboro and Dr. Roy Nation in Goldsboro.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Allan and Rhonda McCoy of Stella; one sister, Dorothy Berget of Minnesota; one granddaughter, Stephanie McCoy Jones and husband, Brent; and special friends, Carol Gray and Ken Turlington.

It was the request of Lou that memorial gifts be directed to the Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends on Sunday at the graveside following the committal service and at other times at the home.
