JARVIS B. JOHNSON

Jarvis Bruce "J.B." Johnson, 62, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to remember J.B. in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Dr. Robert Fulkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

J.B. was born in Wayne County on July 9, 1946, to the late Charlie Bruce Johnson and Ruby Hinson Johnson. He was a 1965 graduate of Goldsboro High School and served his country for two years in the United States Marine Corp.

J.B. worked for the Mount Olive Police Department for two years and retired from the City of Goldsboro after 29 and one-half years of service with the Goldsboro Police Department. He also owned and operated Johnson's Carpet Cleaning Service in Goldsboro.

J.B. is survived by his wife, Cheryl Harrell Johnson; his daughter, Jessica Johnson Sides and husband, Kevin, of Greenville and Lindsay Johnson Gale and husband, Zachary, of Point Mugu, Calif.; his son, Edwin Thomas Johnson of Charlotte; his sisters, Judy Ezzell Kennedy of Melbourne, Fla., and Mary Elizabeth Sykes of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren, Cayleigh Sides and Riley Gale. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Maggie Mae.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Mack Johnson and Julian Marcus Ezzell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 227, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
