Hoover Lee Pierce, 80, Old Smithfield Road, Princeton, died Monday at Kitty Askins.

Funeral services will be conducted tonight at 7 at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Rose Hicks officiating. The committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.

He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Wayne County and was the son of the late Marvin Thomas and Mary Evelyn (Ebbie) Woodard Pierce. Mr. Pierce was also preceded in death by a dear friend, Glenn Worley.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Jones Pierce; daughter Gail Casey of Pikeville; daughter and son-in-law Angela (Angie) and Tommy Edward Person, of Princeton; sister Lurie Mae Hines of Goldsboro; two grandsons, Tommy Lee Person and Joseph Edward Person; nieces, nephews and many friends, including two special friends, Ronnie Faircloth and Rudpolph Baker.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 6 and immediately following the funeral service.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests contributions be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
