RUBY P. PLAYER

Mrs. Ruby Pope Player, 75, passed away Monday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruby was born in Sampson County to the late Carl Pope and Ruby Alston Pope. She was married to the late Ernest Linwood Player. Ruby had worked with Sunburst Foods in Goldsboro and was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Ruby was a devoted mother and was very much loved by her children.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Carlton Player and wife, Lyn, of Goldsboro and Jimmy Player of Goldsboro; her brother, James Pope of Clinton; and her sister, Gracie Redman of Mulberry, Fla. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Pope.
