WALTER "BOOT" DANIELS JR.

Walter "Boot" Daniels Jr. died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory with the Revs. Harold T. Anderson and Jack Sauls officiating. Burial will follow at the Daniels' Family Cemetery on Hood Swamp Road.

Surviving are his two daughters, Wanda Williams and husband, Wallace, of Fremont, and Sylvia Grady of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Chanda Newsome, Aimee Daughtry, Brandi Thigpen, Jason Lewis, and Scott Thomas; great-grandchildren, Hunter Jones, Brandon Thigpen, Trey Daughtry, Nick Lewis, and Morgan Thomas; and his special friend and nephew, Rodney Kearney and wife, Betty.

Mr. Daniels was a native of the New Hope community and was the son of the late Clyde S. and Walter Daniels Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vonzella H. Daniels, the mother of his children, and his wife, Dorothy Daniels.

He faithfully attended the New Hope Church of God for over 30 years. He retired in 1981 after 35 years of service from the North Carolina D.O.T. as a heavy equipment operator. He always enjoyed being outdoors, especially rabbit hunting and working in his garden. In his later years he became an avid mall walker and enjoyed visiting with the many friends he made there.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the home of his daughter, Sylvia Grady, 685 Mark Edwards Road in LaGrange.
