PIKEVILLE -- Marie Wooten Peele, 1507 Mount Carmel Church Road, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with her family by her side.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery, 281 Mount Carmel Church Road with the Rev. David Hollowell and the Rev. Jimmy Wooten officiating.

The family will receive friends this afternoon at her residence.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Robin Peele Barnes and Eugene Barnes of Pikeville; a granddaughter, Staci Marie Barnes of Pikeville; brothers Edward Wooten and wife, Marjorie C. Wooten of Goldsboro, John Wooten and wife, Nina Rae Wooten of Pikeville; and sister-in-law, Edna Jones Wooten of Goldsboro.

Mrs. Peele was a native of the Stoney Creek Community of Wayne County and was the wife of the late James Robert Peele and the daughter of the late Ellen Herring Wooten and James Allen "Jim Bo" Wooten Jr.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bob" Wooten, and an infant son.

She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and retired from Bell South Telephone Company. She was also a member of the Communication Workers of America and the Telephone Pioneers.
