Retired Air Force Senior Master Sgt. James "Jim" Leon Granberry, 72, 606 Sheridan Forest Road, passed away on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.

James was born in Muscogee County, Ga., on Jan. 3, 1936, to the late Leon Young Granberry and Avie Lee Rice Granberry. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years and retired with the rank of Senior Master Sgt. After his military career, James worked as the assistant manager for the Family Shoe Store in Goldsboro.

James is survived by his wife, Nancy Pipkin Granberry; his daughters, Sherry Granberry of Goldsboro and Lisa Corbett and husband, LaVon Corbett of Goldsboro; his son, James David Granberry and fiancée, Rose Lam of Huntersville; his sister and brother-in-law, Benda and Buddy Kahn of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Cody and Casey Corbett of Goldsboro, Natalie Granberry of Gastonia and Jasmine Granberry of Huntersville; and his special nieces, Alisa, Tracie and Brett and their husbands.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ziebell and a sister-in-law, Mona Suddarth.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
