JAMES NATHANIEL WELLS

Command Sgt. Major James Nathaniel Wells, retired, 82, died Saturday at SunBridge Rehabilitation Center in Mount Olive, N.C.

Born in Magnolia, Miss., he was a son of the late Prior Nathaniel and Eva Cook Wells. He was retired from the U.S. Army and East Tennes-see State University. He was a member of Glory Tabernacle, a Shriner and the National Guard Armory.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Scarborough Wells; daughters, Dorothy Faye Polson of McBee, Margaret Ann Williamson of Columbia, Samantha Ann Jones of Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Dorothy Wells of Smithdale, Miss.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Helen Beebe, 181 Tailers Trail, Leesville, S.C. 29070.
