PIKEVILLE -- Bettie Stuckey Strickland, 92, died Thursday afternoon at her home.

Bettie was born in Wayne County to the late Jethro H. Stuckey and Katie Bunn Stuckey. She was married to the late Jake Strickland. Bettie retired from the Goldsboro City School System and worked at several city schools as a teacher's aide.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Lawrence and Kevin Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Bettie is survived by her son, Bob Strickland and wife, Kathie, of Nahunta; her daughters, Jean S. Bridgers and husband, Delmus, of Goldsboro, Ann S. Crawford and husband, A.B., of Fayetteville and Patsy S. Winders of the home; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son, J.B. Strickland of Sanford; her sisters, Priscilla S. Sanderson and Mamie S. Howell; and her brothers, Connie Stuckey and Hubert Stuckey.

Pallbearers will be Paul D. Bridgers Jr., Terry W. Crawford, Tyler Dean Crawford, Rodney Winders, Jeremy Strickland and Kevin Crawford.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 1755 N.C. Highway 581 North, Pikeville.
