Dewallis M. Horton, 83, of 800 S. George St., died Thursday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Horton; daughter, Cathrynn Lewis; and brother, Henry Barnes.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at 1 p.m. from the Rocky Branch United Church of Christ, 5968 N.C. Highway 581 North, Kenly, N.C., with the Rev. Douglas Wooten, eulogist. A viewing will be held, Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 1 to 8 p.m. A wake will be conducted from 7 to 8 p.m. with the family present to receive friends and other family members. Interment will follow on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, U.S. 117 South, Goldsboro, N.C.
She is survived by six daughters, Rose Carol Dreighton and husband, Leroy, of Las Vegas, Nev., Edna Earl Jacobs and husband, Willie, of Upper Marlboro, Md., Edith Elizabeth Cox of Columbia, S.C., Mary Deloris Williams of Stafford, Va., Deborah Ann Hunter of Upper Marlboro, Md., Johnnie Antoinette Horton of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister, Esther Renfrow and husband, David; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will be receiving friends and other family members at 800 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C.
