ERNEST TEDFORD

Ernest Leroy Tedford, 88, died at his home on Monday.
Mr. Tedford was born in Vinita, Okla. He was the youngest of six children of Robert Tedford and Lizzie Brown Tedford. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lilly Nix and Tilda Raney and brothers, Martin and Harley Tedford, all of California.
Mr. Tedford was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army in Germany and Korea. As a young man, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps throughout the southwest United States. He spent his childhood and young adulthood in LeFlore County, Okla., and worked as a horseman and farmer.
He was predeceased by wife, Daphne Deans Tedford of Middlesex in 1954; and second wife, Doris Parnell Tedford of Pikeville in 1981.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Eider-Orley, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his son, Joel David Tedford and wife, Vickie, of Oak Island, N.C.; three granddaughters, Angie Sheffield of Tucker, Ga.,
Nicole Tedford and Ashley Cummings of Oak Island, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Alli and Kate Sheffield, Matthew Cummings and Rylee Tedford. He is also survived by his sister, Nan Tedford of Los Angeles, Calif.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007,
2 p.m. at the Middlesex Church of God, Highway 231, Middlesex, N.C. Burial will follow at the Middlesex Church of God Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Tedder of the Bailey Church of God. Mr. Tedford was a founding and active member of the Bailey Church of God which was started in 1959 by his father-in-law, the late Rev. Clemon H. Deans of Middlesex.
