ROY MAYLON STOKES

TOPSAIL BEACH -- Roy Maylon Stokes, 77, died Saturday at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Pitt County, N.C., the son of the late Joseph Roy Stokes and Bessie Viola Bullock Stokes. He was a retired electrician. Roy received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. He is predeceased by brothers, Harold and Frank Stokes.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jana Stokes of Huntersville, N.C.; daughter, Vickie Stokes-Persaud of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, William Stokes of Summerville, S.C. and James "Jay Bird" Stokes of Kinston, N.C.; sister, Betty Lou Watson of Winterville, N.C.; grandson, Coleson Scott Stokes of Huntersville, N.C.; and granddaughters, Brittany and Taylor Persaud of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
At his request no public service will be held. Memorials may be directed to ovarian cancer research.
