FLORENCE M. SAWYER

Florence M. Sawyer, 94, of Columbia, N.C., died Friday.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in Tyrrell County May 16, 1913, to the late Deward Cleveland Reynolds and Emma Caroline Swain. She was married to the late Alfred G. Sawyer and was also preceded in death by a brother, Deward Garfield Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of Malachi Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
"Momma Florence" was dedicated to her family and friends. She loved fishing and gardening and was an excellent cook. The things she enjoyed were watching the hummingbirds feed and her roses bloom.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine Sawyer Hopkins and Carla Litchfield Sawyer; two sons, Clyde Fentress Litchfield and Sidney Lee Litchfield; one sister, Elizabeth Reynolds Davenport; four granchildren; and four great-granchildren.
The family received friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Malachi Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Columbia. Funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Malachi Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Timothy Swain Cemetery.
