BRENT SMITH

March 18, 1983-June 18, 2007

FREMONT -- Kenneth Brenton "Brent" Smith, 24, died on Monday, June 18, 2007, while vacationing with his family.

Brent was born on March 18, 1983, in Wayne County to Kenneth and Lori Bissette Smith of Fremont. He graduated in 2001 from Charles B. Aycock High School. Brent graduated in 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was working as a project engineer with T.A. Loving Company. An avid hunter and fisherman, Brent will be remembered as a trivia buff and a devout North Carolina State Wolfpack Fan. He attended Wilson Praise Worship in Wilson.

A service to celebrate Brent's life will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro. Pastor Cliff Lewin and Pastor Willie Teachey will officiate.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Destiney Smith of the home; his brother, Mathew Smith of the home; his maternal grandfather, E.C. Bissette of Goldsboro; his aunts and uncles, Wendy Bissette of Goldsboro, Terry and Bobby Howell of Fremont and their children, Mendi Burnham and Jeremy Howell, Bill and Frances Bissette of Wilmington and their daughter, Ashley Bissette, Tommy and Kay Smith of Goldsboro, Joyce and Billy Dail of Pink Hill, Carol and James Lewis of Wilmington, Barbara and Roger Lane of Knightdale, Steve Smith of Goldsboro and Carson Gooding of Goldsboro. Brent is also survived by his special aunt, uncle and family, Willie and JoAnn Teachey of Pikeville and their children, Lisa and Marty Massey, Peggy and Phil Mitchell and Tim Teachey; and special friends, Kenny and Lynette Washam, Tracy, Tia and Trina Owens, Alex Morrison and Sarah Tyndall.

Brent was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Louise Bissette; his paternal grandparents, Garland and Daisy Gooding; and his uncle, Keith Smith.

Flowers are welcome or memorials in Brent's memory may be made to the Wilson Praise and Worship Youth Department, 202 W. Nash St., Wilson, N.C. 27893.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the memorial service at the church and other times at the home of his parents, 208 Bath Road, Fremont, N.C.
