MOUNT OLIVE -- Louise Thigpen Weeks, 84, died early today.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Tyndall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Watkins and the Rev. Bill Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Calypso Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Jimmie and Joyce Gardner, 508 Edwina Kornegay Road, Mount Olive.
Mrs. Weeks is survived by two sons, Willie Ray Weeks of Grantham and Melvin Weeks of Goldsboro; five daughters, Joyce Gardner of Mount Olive, Glenda Rowe of Princeton, Annette Sutton and Mattie Thompson, both of Goldsboro, and Sue Brill of Holly Ridge; a sister, Kathleen Garris of Goldsboro; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Loved ones preceding her in death include her husband, Melvin Weeks Sr.; her parents, Willie Thigpen and Ethel Smith Thigpen Harrell; four brothers, Rodney, Demion, Marvin, and William D. Thigpen; and three sisters, Ruth Hudson, Naomi McCullen and Inez Harrell.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Manley Grove P.H. Church or to a favorite charity.
