TOBY ANN DENNING HIRST
May 31, 1936-May 17, 2007
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Toby Ann Hirst, 70, died at home surrounded by her loving family, including her husband of 56 years, Don.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to raising her family and spent nearly thirty years working in Tallahassee as a popular waitress at the Holiday Inn and a cashier at a local Publix. She was a long-time, active member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Family received friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Culley's Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Fla. Funeral took place Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial was at Culley's Meadow Wood Cemetery.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hirst is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and J.C. Bell; and her beloved children and children-in-law, Don and Chris Hirst Jr., Jeannie and David Carlton, David and Lisa Hirst, Chris and Jennifer Hirst, and Martha and Tom Brushwood.
Mrs. Hirst was preceded in death by her father and mother, as well as her beautiful first-born daughter, Susan Oglesby.
Toby delighted in spending time with her 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She spent her life enjoying time with a host of relatives and dear friends, who will celebrate her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32308.
