FLOYD E. HOOD

Died April 30, 2007

ROSEBORO -- Floyd E. Hood, 81, 12031 Boykin Bridge Road, died Monday at Mary Gran Nursing Center.

A memorial will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church in Delway with the Rev. Jimmy Brown and the Rev. Roy Hood officiating. A funeral service and interment will be held in Greenville, Tenn.

Born in 1926 in Grantham, N.C., Mr. Hood was the son of the late Harvey Leondius and Eunice Edgerton Hood. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Deway where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent for many years. He attended Peoples Tabernacle Church in Greenville, Tenn. Mr. Hood was employed by Broyles Feed Store and MECO Corporation where he retired. He was a loving and devoted Daddy and Papaw and was a devout Christian. He was the widow of Dorothy Hall Hood who died January 16, 2005.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Hood of Mosheim, Tenn.; seven brothers and sisters, Harvey L. Hood and wife, Polly, of Fayetteville, Edna H. Simmons of Lexington, James R. Hood and wife, Mildred, of Irvington, Ky., Annette Robinson of Rose Hill, J.B. Hood and wife, Helen, of Florence, S.C., Thelma Williams and husband, Joe of Roseboro, Roy Hood of Canada, Eunice Carter of Turkey; two sister-in-laws, Barbara Hood of Asheville and Janet Hood of Newport, N.C.; two grandchildren: Michael Hood and Hanna Shelton; one great-grandson, Nathan Shetley.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Allen Hood and Joe Carlton Hood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evergreen Baptist Church, 63 E. Magnolia Lisbon Road, Rose Hill, N.C. 28458.
