GILES D. GENTRY SR.

Giles Dennis Gentry Sr., 89, of Goldsboro and formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Mr. Gentry was born in Boynton, Okla., to the late Arthur Preston Gentry and Ethel Flanders Gentry. He had been a former resident of Fayetteville for many years with his wife, the late Anna Belle Autry Gentry and had retired as chief of supply from the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Fayetteville. Mr. Gentry retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sgt. and was the recipient of the Bronze Clasp with five loops for Good Conduct Medal and the Silver Clasp with one loop for Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Baywood Pentecostal Holiness Church in Fayetteville and a faithful supporter of Church Alive Ministries in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. The Rev. Charles Gentry, son of Mr. Gentry, and the Rev. Elton Bryan will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
He is survived by his sons, Giles Dennis Gentry Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles Gentry and wife, Michelle, of Goldsboro; his daughters, Dennis Ann Noble and husband, Norm, of Seattle, Wash., and Terri Parker and husband, Clayton, of Linden; his sisters, Mildred Woodward, Gail Sager and Shirley Bechtel, all of Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Shan Evans, Eric List, Clay Parker Jr., Chip Gentry, Jon Gentry, Angela Taylor and Nick Gentry; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Hilda Lancaster.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild and three brothers.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Church Alive Ministries Building Fund, 471 Buck Swamp Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Michelle Gentry, 219 Creek Ridge Drive, Goldsboro and at the home of Terri and Clayton Parker, 7655 Lucinda Lane, Linden, N.C.
