Rematha Pitt, 72, 106 Beverly Dr., died Friday at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Care of Mount Olive.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park North.

She was a native of Wayne County and was educated in Wayne County Public Schools. She was a self-employed seamstress and a former employee of March One, Craftex Inc. and Wayne Manufacturing. She was a member and former church secretary of Little Rock Disciples of Christ Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Arch and Maggie Jones; two sons, Jesse Rand Pitt and Z.P. Pitt; two brothers, Jesse Perry and James Lewis; and two sisters, Laura Ellen Grantham and Mary Evans.

She is survived by her husband, Jessie James Pitt of the home; two sons, Eddie Jones and Wilbert Evans of Goldsboro; four daughters, Brenda Pitt of Goldsboro, Barenda Lewis of Charlotte, Bonnie Welles of Deep Run and Emily Howard of Radcliff, Ky.; two brothers, John Jones of Clinton and Eugene Jones of Kenly; four sisters, Christine Pitt of New York, Janice Ham of Goldsboro, Barbara Jones of Benson and Felicia James of Raleigh; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home of Goldsboro. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.
