RAYMOND E. SMITH SR.
Died Dec. 26, 2006
Raymond E. Smith Sr., 70, 403 Hamilton Drive, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Webster and Mable Kornegay Smith and a son, Robert Toler.
He was a native of Wayne County, National President of the Dillard Goldsboro Alumni Association, 1955 graduate of Dillard High School, member of Goldsboro Chapel FWB Church, served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a retired Civil Service Employee from Seymour Johnson AFB.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., with Elder James Collins and Dr. Dwight Cannon officiating and eulogy from Bishop Allen Smith. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Faison Smith of the home; son, Raymond Smith Jr. of Goldsboro; stepmother, Ilean Smith of Goldsboro; brother, James N. Smith of Greensboro; sister, Evelyn Deans of Goldsboro; four grandchildren.
Viewing will be Friday at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro from 2 to 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. and other times at the residence at 403 Hamilton Drive.
