LA GRANGE -- James Prentice Anderson, 93, 5818 Old Jason Road, died Monday at his home. Mr. Anderson was born in Lenoir County to the late James Henry and Lucy Newsome Anderson. He was a lifetime farmer and a member of Beston United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be today at 6 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Guthrie and the Rev. T.C. West officiating. A private interment will be held Thursday at Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nora Anne Hill Anderson; two sons, J.P. Anderson and wife, Gloria, of La Grange, Daniel K. Anderson and wife, Esther, of La Grange; three sisters, Ola Mae Seymour of La Grange, Elizabeth Denise of Hollywood, Fla., and Isabel Carraway of Raleigh; four grandchildren, James Nathan Tingen and wife, Ashley, Penny Tingen Lewis and husband, Jim, Amy Anderson Faulkner and husband, Jerome, Jeffrey Scott Anderson and wife, Niki; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Anderson Tingen and James Tingen; brother, George Edward "Jigs" Anderson; and two sisters, Edna Johnson and Bertha Anderson.
The family will receive friends today following the service and at other times they will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Beston United Methodist Church, c/o Irene Thorne, 1584 New Hope Road, La Grange, 28551.
