Died Dec. 11, 2006

ALBERTSON - John William Murphy, 78, 588 Piney Grove Road, died on Monday. He was a retired farmer and served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Murphy was a founding member of Friendship FWB Church in Pink Hill.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Friendship FWB Church, Pink Hill, with the Rev. Don Craft and the Rev. Gerald Carraway officiating.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dixie Lee Radford Murphy of the home; three sons, J. Allen Murphy and wife, Jane, of New Bern, Grayling C. Murphy and wife, Bonnie, of Albertson, and T. Morris Murphy and wife, Linda, of Albertson; eight grandchildren, Jason Murphy and wife, Ronda, Jennifer M. Sumner and husband, Monty, Bradley Murphy, Justin Murphy and wife, Julie, Lindsay Murphy, Jordan Murphy, Danielle Wallace and Chad Wallace; three great-grandchldren, Derrick Murphy, Dillian Murphy and Jenna Sumner; one brother, Aaron J. Murphy of Lynchburg, Va.; three sisters, Lois "Tig" Smith of Kinston, Sue M. King of Pink Hill and Grace E. Wells of Ayden.

Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship FWB Church, Pink Hill.
