PERCY CUNNINGHAM SR.

LAGRANGE -- Percy Cleveland Cunningham Sr., 84, 5583 Hull Road, died Saturday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Henry Guy and Ora Harrison Cunningham. A retired farmer and well driller, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where he was active in the Senior Citizens Ministry.

Funeral services will be today at 7 p.m. from Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Archie Ratliff and Robert Spruill officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Harrison Family Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Barfield Cunningham; seven children, Rose Marie Cunningham of the home, Theresa Burch and Tommy Burch of Bryson City, Nancy Davis and husband, Danny, of La Grange, Sherry Herring and husband, Ronnie, of La Grange, Percy Cunningham Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Cherokee, Twinkle Johnson and husband, Larry, of La Grange, Matthew Wayne Cunningham and wife, Miriam, of La Grange; sister, Grace Furr of Albemarle; six grandchildren, Jason Burch, Elizabeth McCurry, Rebecca Baker, Emily Sanderson, Kevin Johnson and Josh Johnson; three great grandchildren, Lynsey Johnson, Shane Johnson and Sarah Grace Johnson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and immediately following the service. At other times they will be at the home, 5583 Hull Road, La Grange. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1826, Kinston, 28501.

Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
