JOHN B. WILLIAMS

NEWTON GROVE - John Blaney Williams, 245 Friday Road, died Thursday at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. He was born to the late Lewis J. and Lela Bennett Williams in Sampson County. Mr. Williams was married to Lener Cole Williams for almost 55 years and was a member of White Oak Disciple Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a bus mechanic with the Department of Transportation prior to retirement.

Funeral services will be Thursday at White Oak Disciple of Christ Church at 1 p.m. with Bishop C.J. Williams officiating. The wake will be Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church with burial at Hillside Cemetery on Alex Benton Road, Newton Grove.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Williams of Philadelphia, Pa., and Blaney L. Williams of the home; one grandson; one brother, Ralph L. Williams of Salisbury; seven sisters, Lois W. Pate and Louvenia W. Sawyer, both of Philadelphia, Pa., Ruth W. Brown of Roanoke, Va., Minnie W. Burton and Rehobeth Beach, Del., Bernice Watkins and Celestine Cheek of Greensboro and Jacqueline Raynor of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Margaret, Walter, Nahum and Algonia.
