IRIS S. BROWN

Iris Smith Brown, 88, 411 E. Mulberry St., died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in West Columbia, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur B. and Bessie Turner Smith. She moved with her family to Goldsboro in 1922. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Brown, who was a druggist in Goldsboro for many years.

Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her only son, James Thomas Brown Jr., and his wife, Peggy, of Goldsboro; one granddaughter, Martha Thomas Brown of LaQuinta, Calif.; one sister, Margaret Smith Hodges of Charlotte; and several nieces and a nephew.

Memorial gifts may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

Visitation will precede the graveside service from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
