LOUIS E. MARRINER SR.

Louis Edward Marriner Sr., 91, 117 Perry Dr., died Thursday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Harvin and the Rev. Jean Hood officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Marriner was born in Washington County June 26, 1915, to the late Louis Cass Marriner and Ella Lilley Marriner.
He was the founder of Metalcrafters in Goldsboro. Mr. Marriner was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he served in many leadership roles, sang in the Chancelor Choir and the Gospel Heirs Quartet. He was named Lay Person of the year in 1998.
Mr. Marriner enjoyed singing and woodworking. He sang with the Men of Madison, traveling with the Men's Ensemble to the Far East to sing to wounded soldiers hospitalized there. He was one of the original members of the Third Century Singers, serving as president in 1978-1979. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Taylor Marriner; his sons, Louis C. Marriner Jr. and wife, Patti, of Goldsboro and Brooks Marriner and wife, JoAnn, of Dudley; his step-son, David McDonough and wife, Joan, of Bonham, Texas; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Marriner was married in 1934 to the late Sara Best.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
